Sunday's Swim for Hope -AKA Wacky Relays- provided lots of laughs and some friendly competition among a diverse collections of swimmers while raising funds for the Wellness Communities and their efforts to fight breast cancer. Enthusiastic youngsters, Sharks Masters and Youth Swimmers, Sarasota Storm Triathletes and former Olympians tested their creative skills involving inflatable rings & beach balls, kitchen ware, spare clothes, and other oddities. The event was MC'd by ABC 7's Chief Meteorologist Bob Harrigan...and finished with a grudge match between Bob and 2x Olympian and Silver Medalist Tripp Schwenk and a new instant rivalry between Bob and 3x Olympian Agnese Butler. Tripp demonstrated the 1/2 pool head start Bob had last year may have been a factor in his 2010 victory. Then Agnese welcomed Bob to the world of triathlon by waiting, crossing into his lane and at the last second, snatched victory from his grasps by a 2 handed tug on his leg. (as seen on the ABC 7 Broadcast). Thanks to the Sarasota Storm Tri Club for fielding so many teams for this great cause.

It was great to have this many participants! The only downside is that the timing crew was stretched thin...so please email us with updates or additional information and we will update our records the results.

Also on Friday "Kona" Carl and I journeyed onward to measure the buoys at Lido Beach. Lido provides a very nice set up for 1/2 Iron distance swims but any distance works well here. Here are a couple of suggested routes. And if you're looking to make a change in your life including a fitness goal and/or completing your first triathlon, check out Carl's site at carlknutssonfitness.com

A Friday morning kayak venture along Siesta Key Beach allowed for the opportunity for some official GPS measuring. Thanks to "Kona" Carl for the company and entertainment!
